Zhengzhou, Henan, China - From August 19 to 21, the 2022 CUA National Robotics Group Annual Meeting & Academic Conference Series was held, attended by Shanghai MicroPort MedBot (Group) Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as MicroPort^® MedBot ^®) with its Toumai^® Laparoscopic Surgical  Robot (hereinafter referred to as Toumai^®). As the first domestic four-arm laparoscopic surgical robot, Toumai^® made a splendid appearance in front of numerous urology experts coming from all parts of the country. Toumai^® not only infuses the academic feast with a sci-fi splendor with its high-grade, high-precision, and sophisticated medical technology but also profoundly impresses the experts with its excellent operation during the test operation.

The annual meeting of the CUA National Robotics Group was organized by the Robotics Group of the Chinese Urological Association (CUA) and the Henan Anti-Cancer Association, and hosted by the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University. During the same period, a series of academic conferences were also held in Zhengzhou, including the annual meeting of the Urological Tumor Committee of Henan Anti-Cancer Association, the 6^th Central China Urinary Calculus and Continence Summit Forum, and the 5^th Academic Conference of Prostate Diagnosis and Treatment Integration Alliance. Academician Xu Zhang of the Chinese PLA General Hospital was the chairman of the conference, and Professor Dongkui Song, Director of the Department of Urology of the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University, and Professor Xuepei Zhang, Deputy Director of the same department, were the executive chairmen of the conference. More than 40 renowned gurus nationwide and robotic surgery experts gathered together, alongside 14 high-level academic lectures on the cutting-edge medical technologies and 57 superb live demonstrations of urological surgeries, attracting over 50,000 delegates both online and offline.

During the conference, the test operation of Toumai^®, the first and only four-arm laparoscopic surgical robot self-developed by a domestic company and approved for marketing, caught the attention of a steady stream of visitors. The booth was surrounded by experts and leaders from all over China, who feasted their eyes on the product demonstration, took a closer look at its technical advantages, and experienced first-hand operational performance. Toumai^® was highly acclaimed and applauded by multiple doctors who participated in the test operation thanks to its three-dimensional realistic surgical field and highly flexible wrist instruments. They unanimously believed that Toumai^® would help primary doctors master and utilize the leading surgical robot technology more efficiently, thereby empowering doctors and delivering health benefits to more patients.

At the Toumai^® robotic urological surgery training course organized by the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University and hosted by MicroPort^® MedBot^®, Professor Xuepei Zhang, Deputy Director of the Urology Department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University, was invited as the chief instructor to coach 15 trainees from Henan Province on the usage and clinical skills of Toumai^®, showing the application of the surgical robot in urology and its clinical values of precision and minimally invasive via the demonstration of partial nephrectomy simulation.

After intense, heated on-site learning, discussion and practical operation, the trainees successfully completed the course and were awarded the certificates by the participating leaders at the opening ceremony of the conference. The representative of the trainees believed that the surgical experience course hosted by MicroPort^® MedBot^® provides a wonderful learning and communication platform for counterparts inside and outside Henan Province. As a trailblazer of domestic robots, it manifests how technology empowers medical units at the grass-roots level, which is highly laudable. This will undoubtedly help boost the development of urology technology in Henan Province and cultivate more talents with practical skills in modern medicine, thus contributing to the health undertaking of Central China.
