In the city of Jingzhou, China, on December 15th, the Chinese- developed Toumai® four-arm laparoscopic surgical robot, introduced by Jingzhou First People's Hospital (referred to as Jingzhou Hospital), was successfully installed and inaugurated. This momentous occasion marked the introduction of the first surgical robot in Jingzhou, a place associated with the legendary physician Hua Tuo, renowned for his bone-scraping techniques used to treat the warrior deity Guan Yu. Today, this historic city welcomes its own Chinese-developed surgical robot, heralding a future where patients will experience reduced trauma, minimal bleeding, and faster recovery.

As the pioneering hospital in Jingzhou to adopt such advanced medical equipment as a laparoscopic surgical robot, Jingzhou Hospital will make full use of the precision, safety, and effectiveness of the Toumai®. This will further elevate the efficiency and technical proficiency in handling complex clinical surgeries across various departments. Not only does it fill the void in the field of robot-assisted minimally invasive surgery in Jingzhou, but it also assumes a leading role, radiating the path towards an era of ultra-precise and intelligent "robotic surgery" in general surgery within the Jingzhou area.

Academician Zhang Xu, a trailblazer in the field of urological laparoscopy and robotic technology in China, conveyed his congratulations through a video call upon learning that his hometown now possesses its own surgical robot. He encouraged everyone to continuously improve their medical skills and explore innovative approaches to provide higher-quality healthcare services for the local residents.

During the inauguration ceremony, the "Jingzhou First People's Hospital Toumai® Surgical Robot Training Center" was officially unveiled. This training center has a twofold purpose: to promote the clinical application and research innovation of domestically produced surgical robots and to deliver standardized training for robot-assisted surgery. The center aims to cultivate a greater number of highly skilled professionals in the field of surgical robotics, promote the adoption of surgical robot technology, and enhance the quality and efficiency of regional medical treatment, benefiting a vast number of patients.
